Three years into the Start-Up Kuchentratsch - it all started with an idea.
Katharina Mayer
I am an entrepreneur and advocate for sustainable business practices.
Pursuing my studies in Management at the Management Center Innsbruck (B.A.) and at the University of Oxford (EMBA) I had a great chance to learn theoretical frameworks and tools to apply in the business environment.
With, 24 years I founded the Social Start-Up Kuchentratsch, a venture that quickly garnered recognition and multiple awards for its innovative approach to social entrepreneurship. During this time I had the great chance to apply all the valuable tools and frameworks I then adapted into this book.
Currently, I am working for one of the biggest European advertisment agencies with a mission to transform the industry to more sustainable marketing practices.

The story behind the book
The story behind the book
Starting studying in Oxford - it started all with a strategy and a plan.
My journey in the business world has been both challenging and rewarding. Over the years, I´ve had the privilege of working with some of the most effective frameworks and tools that help businesses navigate their challenges, optimize their strategy, and achieve remarkable growth.
These tools are widely embraced in the professional realm, where we eagerly apply them to solve problems and seize opportunities.
Planning the Kuchentratsch future with my team - it all started with a vision and a dream.
However, as I progressed in my career, I noticed a significant gap in our personal lives. We often don´t know or shy away from using similar personal framworks and tools to tackle our personal challenges, goals and dreams.
Why is that? This realization struck me as a missed opportunity - one that limits our growth and potential. In the business world, we rely on proven methodologies to make sense of complex situations, to break down our goals into actionable steps, and to measure our progress.
Yet, in our personal lives, many of us hesitate to apply the same level of structure and strategic thinking. We worry that it might be too rigid, too time-consuming, or perhaps, too revealing of the areas where we feel vulnerable.
But what if these very tools could help us lead more fulfilling lives? What if they could provide us with the clarity and direction we seek, without overwhelming us?
Have fun
chasing your dreams!
Yours sincerely,
Katharina
About the design
Enjoying the view on Half Dome - it all started with a step.
The design of this book draws inspiration from the beautiful flowers of Yosemite National Park, symbolizing the journey of growth from a seed to full bloom.
These particular flowers were chosen after my seven-day solo hike through Yosemite Park, a journey that reaffirmed the profound impact of stepping away from the busyness of life. Sourrounded by nature, I found clarity, inspiration, and the space to reflet deeply - which I hope this book will offer you.
Achieving your goals - it´s all about the big smile on your face.
Climbing Half Dome - it all started with facing the fear.

I am a Munich born and raised freelance designer. As a passionate surfer and traveler, I already worked and lived in Australia, New Zealand and Spain before recently settling in Portugal (obviously close to the ocean), after 5 years of digital nomad life.
In my professional career of more than 15 years I have had different assignments as Art Director, Creative Consultant, UX/UI Designer, Graphic Designer, Digital Designer, Videographer, and Picture Editor for magazines.
I worked for and with brands such as Condé Nast, RunningPoint, Webraketen, bvik, Bike24, Truma, Isartal Health Media, Klar Seifen, smuuv Kommunikation and Serviceplan.
With my Brand Studio I have now developed an international client base, that shares my most important values: sustainability & purpose!
To walk the talk of my values, I regularly do pro bono work to support non-profit organisations, such as Groundswell Surf Therapy, NOMB Surf and Waves of Grief in branding and other design requests.
My work is as unique as I am, my passion for the ocean and nature can be found in everything I create!
